September finds me in Guthrie, Oklahoma, at the WDAA World Championship Show with my horse, Lark. We’ll be competing over the next seven days, and I appreciate all the good thoughts and encouragement as we head into competition this week. I’ll save those stories for another time, because this month I want to look back at West: Reimagined and share some photographs from the exhibition and opening night. Most of all, I want to thank everyone who came out and made the show such a success!

August has arrived, and with it comes one of my favorite times of year in Santa Fe. It’s festival season, culminating in the energy and excitement of Indian Market. Here in the studio, I’m focused on final preparations for my solo exhibition West: Reimagined, opening Friday, August 28th from 5 to 7 PM at Blue Rain Gallery. This month’s newsletter is dedicated to the show, including a reflection inspired by a recent interview, a preview of a featured painting, and details about the opening. Welcome to July. Summer has settled into Santa Fe, and the studio has been filled with long painting days as I put the finishing touches on my upcoming solo exhibition, West Reimagined, opening August 28th at Blue Rain Gallery. There’s an interesting stage in preparing for an exhibition when the individual paintings begin to speak to one another, and the larger vision starts to emerge. That’s where I find myself now. In this month’s newsletter, I’d like to share a glimpse into life in the studio, introduce one of the new works, and reflect on one of the things I love most about painting, the joy of discovery. Next month, I’ll share much more about West Reimagined, the ideas behind it, several new paintings, and the inspirations that shaped the show.

As March arrives, I’m writing to you from the emerald-green waters and cobalt sky line of Little Cayman in the Western Caribbean. This island’s slower rhythm, the ocean breeze, the waves on the reef, has reminded me that creativity blossoms not only in the studio, but also in rest and play. In this issue, I reflect on how stepping away can offer surprising insights into the creative process. I’ll also share some studio notes, upcoming shows, and a glimpse of what’s next!

As February unfolds, I’m delighted to welcome you to this month’s newsletter. In the musings section, I reflect on being a painter who also collects—sharing some personal thoughts about what collecting means to me. I’m also thrilled to announce that my paintings along with fellow Blue Rain Gallery artists are currently on view at Intersect Palm Springs. Happy New Year! As we step into 2026 and the Year of the Horse, I’m feeling especially inspired by the energy of forward momentum and new beginnings. This year promises a wealth of fresh paintings and exciting directions emerging from my studio, and I can’t wait to share them with you. In this edition, you’ll find my musings on what the Year of the Horse means to me and how it connects back to the childhood sketches that first sparked my passion for art. Thank you for being part of this journey. I’m so looking forward to a year of creativity and shared inspiration.

As the holiday season settles in and the year gently draws to a close, I find myself in a reflective place. I think about the paths we’ve traveled, the moments that have shaped us, the people who impacted us, and the quiet lessons each season leaves behind…

Winter’s short days have settled over Santa Fe, and the low slant of light transforms the mesas each morning—a reminder of how swiftly the seasons shift. This quieter time always draws me back to the essence of my practice: painting for the sheer love of it and reflecting on the long arc of a life in art.

This month, though, I’m far from the high desert—spending time with my family along Georgia’s coastal shores. The hush of the marshes, sway of live oaks, and shimmer of dolphins have offered new inspiration and a slower rhythm. Between walks on the beach (and a few indulgent seafood meals!), I’ve been sketching and gathering ideas for future work.

In this issue, you’ll find photos from my travels, a few Blue Rain Gallery show announcements, and a musing on what it means to make art across a lifetime. Soon, I’ll be heading west again—first to southern New Mexico’s desert country, then to Tucson, AZ, with some fresh paintings for Medicine Man Gallery.

Stepping out into the crisp morning air early this morning, reminded me that winter is just around the corner. With autumn’s golden light fading, I’m finding a moment to reflect on how this quieter season shapes my time in the studio and rekindles the joy of painting for its own sake.

In this issue, you’ll find a glimpse of what I’ve been up to: an upcoming show at the Bryan Museum in Galveston, a miniature show at Blue Rain Gallery in November, a wonderful recent demo at the Albuquerque Museum of Art, and a recap of my adventures at the World Championship show in Oklahoma with Lark.

The seasons are shifting here in Santa Fe—the mornings are cooler, and the evenings glow with golden light across the mesas. September is one of my favorite times to paint, with dramatic skies, shorter days, and the land turning to rich autumn tones.

I’m happy to share that several of my new paintings are on view this month, with more chances this Fall to connect and celebrate art together. You’ll find the details inside!

The days are stretching long and the shadows are deepening—late summer is sliding into fall, my favorite time of year to paint. My recent show at Blue Rain Gallery was a great success, and I’m so grateful for all your support. I’m also excited to have a few more opportunities this fall to share new work—details are inside!

Summer has arrived in sunny Santa Fe, bringing with it the vibrant festival season, opera performances, horse shows, and weekly art events. I’m excited to share that there are many chances to view my new paintings this season! Most notably, my annual exhibition at Blue Rain Gallery in Santa Fe opening next Friday, July 25th, 5-7 pm.

Show season is here and I am happy to report that I have been busy both in the studio and in the great outdoors! I arrived home from the breathtaking and inspiring Grand Canyon, where I spent days hiking and painting en plein air. I have lots to share this month - more about my Grand Canyon adventures, exciting upcoming shows, and other news can be found below. It is shaping up to be a busy year! Spring has finally arrived in the desert, and I look forward to painting out, walks on the plaza, time with friends and loved ones in the great outdoors, and enjoying the infinite sunshine that is the Southwest!
