From The Studio - September
Dear friends and collectors,
The seasons are shifting here in Santa Fe—the mornings are cooler, and the evenings glow with golden light across the mesas. September is one of my favorite times to paint, with dramatic skies, shorter days, and the land turning to rich autumn tones.
I’m happy to share that several of my new paintings are on view this month, with more chances this Fall to connect and celebrate art together. You’ll find the details below.
As the seasons change, I’m reminded how creativity moves in cycles, much like nature. I’ve written more about that in this month’s Musings. Be sure to read on below.
Wishing you a September full of inspiration, beauty, and color.
Warmly,
Kathryn Stedham
I love a nice day painting by water’s edge on the Rio Grande!

Musings:
The Rhythm of Change
Every autumn, I find myself struck by the same realization: nothing in nature stays still. The skies shift, the leaves turn to gold, the light fades earlier each day. And in the studio, the same truth applies. Paintings move through their own seasons—bursts of energy, periods of quiet, and eventually, a moment when the work resolves itself.
I’ve learned to trust this rhythm, to let each canvas unfold in its time. Sometimes progress feels swift, like a gust of wind sweeping clouds across the sky. Other times it’s slow, like shadows inching over canyon walls. Both tempos are part of the process.
Autumn reminds me that change is not something to resist—it’s the very fuel of creation. Just as the land transforms, so too does the artist, the canvas, and the vision itself.
